Implied- : to express (something) in an indirect way; to suggest (something) without saying or showing it plainly
When talking about the Constitution Hamilton said… “It is not denied that there are implied as well as express powers (to the Constitution), and that the former (implied) are as effectually delegated (given) as the latter.” Use the following quote from Washington’s Farewell Address. “In carrying out such a plan (concerning foreign policy), nothing, is more essential than that permanent habitual hatred against particular nations and passionate attachments for other should be excluded…….So likewise a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite nation helps create the illusion of an imaginary common interest in cases where no real common interest exists. It introduces into one the hatreds of the other. “ |
